Frequently asked questions
- How is my data stored?
- Habits, check-ins, notes, coins, gear, and settings are stored on your device. There is no account and no server. Back up to a JSON file when you want a copy you control. That file does not sync to your other devices.
- How do I reset the app?
- Delete or archive a habit you no longer want, or uninstall the app to remove the local database. Export a backup first if you want a copy.
- How do I remove my data?
- Delete a habit in the app, or uninstall the app. A file you already exported stays where you saved it. A system backup of the phone can keep a copy until the operating system discards it.
- Does the app require an account?
- No. You do not sign in.
- Why am I seeing ads?
- Habit Hike is free. A small banner can appear on some tabs. A full-screen ad plays only if you tap Watch an ad, for example to earn bonus coins. That tap is optional, and your habits never depend on it. Ads come from Google AdMob. If you refuse consent, ad requests stop. Your habits, reminders, and backup keep working.
- How can I report a bug?
- Email elberthcorniell@gmail.com with the app version, your phone model, and what you expected to happen.
- How can I suggest a feature?
- Email elberthcorniell@gmail.com. A short description is enough.
Troubleshooting
- A reminder did not arrive
- Allow notifications for Habit Hike in system settings, and check that Reminders is on in Profile and the habit has a reminder time. If reminders stop after the phone has been off for a long time, open the app so it can schedule the next ones.
- Watch an ad does not appear
- Ads are skipped when the phone is offline, when consent does not allow an ad request, when the ad service has nothing to show, or after the daily limit of five. Your habits and check-ins do not depend on ads.
- A backup will not restore
- The file has to be a backup exported from Habit Hike. If the file is not valid, the app leaves your current data in place.
